SOFT FIRENZE FOUNDER

A Life Devoted to Cashmere

Costanza Castellani has spent over thirty years at the heart of Italian luxury knitwear, learning from the finest, refining her craft, and building the vision that would one day become Soft Firenze.

Born in Tuscany into a family with deep roots in fashion and craftsmanship, Costanza chose cashmere at the age of twenty, and never looked back. What began as a personal brand became a lifelong pursuit of excellence, leading her through two decades at the helm of Italy's most prestigious luxury knitwear houses.

Today, Soft Firenze is the result of that journey: a collection born quietly, with care, from a dream she had kept to herself for years. Every piece carries the weight of that experience, and the lightness of cashmere that only the finest hands can achieve.

THE BEGINNING

Born into Craft,
Drawn to Cashmere

Costanza grew up in Tuscany, surrounded by the world of fashion and craftsmanship. Coming from a family who ran their own fur company in Empoli, she understood from an early age the value of quality materials and careful work. But it was cashmere that captured her imagination.

At the age of twenty, she made a decision that would define her life: to start her own cashmere knitwear business. It was a bold choice, and one she never looked back on. "It was in the early 1990s when I began to want more of a challenge," she recalls. After six years building her own brand, she felt the pull to go deeper, into production, into sourcing, into the very origin of the materials she loved.

TWO DECADES OF MASTERY

Learning from the Best in the World

What followed were twenty years of immersion in the highest levels of Italian luxury knitwear. Costanza worked as a production manager for some of the most renowned cashmere houses in the industry, observing, absorbing, and refining her understanding of every stage of the process.

"During those two decades, I had the opportunity to work for the best luxury brands of the time," she explains. "I grew professionally thanks to the help of many experienced people." It was here that she came to understand what truly separates a great garment from an exceptional one: not a single decision, but thousands of small, careful ones made by people who care deeply about what they do.

THE JOURNEY

The Dream That Was Waiting
in a Drawer

In 2017, Costanza took another defining step: she opened her own technical consultancy studio in Florence, offering her expertise to fashion companies seeking to create Made in Italy products of the highest quality. It was a natural evolution, and the final preparation for what she had always envisioned.

"The dream I had hidden in a drawer for some time has given birth to Soft Firenze," she says. Putting her own hand to design for the first time, she began building a collection of refined cashmere pieces for leisure and home, each one a direct expression of everything she had learned, and everything she believed in.

"My work has become my passion." Today, Soft Firenze is the result of that journey: a brand rooted in Tuscany, shaped by decades of experience, and made with the hands of artisans who share her values.
